Summary: When Wolfram and Hart open a portal to hell in LA, Xander comes back and finds himself coming online during the battle. In the aftermath, he meets Tony DiNozzo and saves the man’s life. In doing so he finds a new mission, a mate, and a new enemy.

Tony DiNozzo was feeling pretty pissed off at the moment. He should have been happy with his lot in life, but instead, he was furious over the fact that someone he thought he knew and was friends with was leading a campaign of assholery. Tony wasn’t sure how Abby had gotten his new phone number so quickly.
Hetty Lange had come to the hotel to bring phones for both Tony and Gibbs so that Leon Vance, the Director of NCIS, would be able to get in contact with the pair over the internal investigation into Ziva David.
Tony wasn’t really sure he wanted to talk to Hetty, but was stunned when the older woman had apologized to him over what she considered to be a grave insult. Hetty had been given false information by both Ziva and others as to really what went down when Jennifer Shepard got herself killed on Tony and Ziva’s watch. Tony had accepted the apology, but he wouldn’t forget anytime soon. There was a reason Tony wasn’t all that sad to be going to another galaxy for a while.
Barely minutes, after Tony had turned the phone on Abby, called and began to scream at him over what she perceived to be a betrayal of Ziva. It didn’t seem to matter to Abby that Ziva had left both Tony and Tim to die, all she cared about was that Ziva was being punished for what she did to them.
Tony hadn’t bothered to respond to Abby’s rant, instead, he had handed his phone to a stunned Hetty and left Gibbs to deal with both women. Only one of whom he had any respect. Hetty had hung up the phone and turned her ire on Gibbs for allowing misinformation about Tony to be spread and for not ordering a disciplinary on Abby.
Gibbs had been too stunned to even defend himself against Hetty’s dressing down. As Tony was walking away his phone started ringing again and when Gibbs answered the phone it was Abby once again yelling into the phone. What both Gibbs and Hetty had failed to realize was that as a Sentinel he could hear every word that Abby was yelling even as he left the room.
John stayed at his side but said nothing until they were back in their room. “What is wrong with her?” John asked in a flat tone.
“She’s a spoiled brat who doesn’t deal well with change and for some reason, I’m her whipping boy. Tim, she just bullies, but me she attacks as often as possible, especially after we lost Kate to Ari. At first, she hated Ziva, then she formed up a gang of assholes with Tim being a part of it, but when I got injured a few months into her coming back to work with us, Tim woke up to what was happening and his attitude changed, we became friends again. He apologized and so did I, there were some pranks I pulled that hurt him more than I realized, so I stopped doing them, and we started working well together again. It pissed both Abby and Ziva off that Gibbs and Ducky also sided against their attitude so it’s been building to this I guess.” Tony said with a sigh, frowning slightly.
“Still the fact that she thinks you should be siding with Ziva when she left you and Tim to die is fucking crazy,” John said with a dark look, Tim was still unconscious and no one was sure if he would be able to handle things when he came out of the shock at losing his leg.
The only one who seemed to think everything would be okay was Xander Harris, but he was still working with the information he wasn’t sharing with the rest of them. “I need to talk to Harris, I need to know why he won’t let Tim come out of the coma,” Tony said suddenly, looking to his bonded Guide.
Their bonding had been intense, but not sexual in nature, oh Tony was attracted to John, but their bonding had been spiritual only. They had yet to have sex and if Tony was honest he was pretty relieved by that. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to have sex with John, it was that he was in a place where he didn’t feel ready for sex and that he was still reeling from everything that had happened to him. John understood and felt the same way, so they were taking things slowly.
When they found Xander he was in the middle of hauling the bodies of the invading demons to a pyre to be burned. All of the humans and GD bodies had been cleared first. They had identified all but a few of the humans and all of the GD. The few humans yet to be identified were more than likely homeless people. The Council had already offered to pay for their burial.
“Xander I need to talk to you about Tim,” Tony said immediately.
Xander turned to face the older man and sighed, “Look he’s not ready to come out of the coma. If we take him out now he’ll die from the shock of everything that happened to him. What happened to you was shitty and yeah you were dying when you were found, but Tim was being eaten when he was found. Your friend is being given the best care imaginable. Plus he is undergoing mind healing at the same time. When he’s ready he’ll wake on his own, but until then he needs to remain in the healing coma.” Xander told him as he walked over to grab another body and throw it on the pyre.
“Eaten!” Tony yelled in horror. Xander blinked and stared at Tony.
“Who was eaten?” Gibbs demanded, he had come to tell Xander to have Tim woken up they needed the younger man to give testimony against Ziva.
“Tim, the reason his injuries were worse than Tony’s was that he was being eaten alive,” Xander told the older man.
Gibbs blanched, “Oh my God! Did Ziva leave him to be eaten alive?” Gibbs demanded.
“Yes she did, she could have helped him, could have helped Tony and she refused to do so, she’s a fucking monster. As far as I’m concerned she is no different than the demons that invaded our realm, they came here to kill us all, she just left two people to die at their hands.” Xander spat out furiously, Graham put a hand on Xander’s shoulder. Xander had no sympathy for people who allowed demons to take another human if they could stop it.
“Whatever you people do to her will never make up for what she put Tim through and for leaving Tony to die. I have intense visions, it is as though I am within the moment of what I see, what I saw Tim go through is a nightmare that even Hollywood can’t create. Right now Tim is being cared for, protected, and healed from what was done to him. What she stood and watched before walking away as he begged her for help.” Xander said, his level of grief clear in his words.
“I’ve hated a lot of people in my life, but I’ve never hated someone as much as Ziva David. I will be more than happy to speak on Tim’s behalf. He’s one of us now and no one will be permitted to hurt him again.” Xander added a dark look on his face.
Buffy walked over and put her hand on Xander’s back hugging his side and staring at Gibbs and Tony, they looked like someone had gutted them, especially Gibbs. “You need to understand that Tim has a place on Atlantis, he is Chosen for something great purpose, plus his mate is on Atlantis. When he wakes he’s going to wake a Guide. His Sentinel will awake at the same time on Atlantis.” Buffy told them gently.
“Okay, okay… A Guide?” Tony asked, guilt-stricken, and full of desperate grief.
“He’ll wake up though?” Gibbs asked feeling the same emotions as Tony, but also a simmering rage.
“Yes, but we have to give him time to heal,” Xander told him quietly.
“Alright, I need you to come in and speak on his behalf, so far everyone agrees that you are the reason we knew to fight the ED and kept the situation from getting worse thanks to your visions, so now we need you to talk for Tim and explain what happened to him,” Gibbs said quietly, he needed Tim to have a voice and he needed Ziva David to pay for what she did to Tony and to Tim, especially for what she did to Tim.
“When do you need me?” Xander asked as he looked around him, realizing for the first time that everyone had stopped to listen to the conversation. They all looked as angry as Xander felt.
“Tomorrow,” Gibbs answered with a grim look.
“Tomorrow it is,” Xander said quietly.
